7M - Barcelona 4-1 Espanyol: Ferran and Yamal shine as hosts extend La Liga lead to nine points with dominant display

Barcelona strengthened their La Liga title charge with a commanding 4-1 victory over city rivals Espanyol on Saturday, April 11, 2026. Ferran Torres opened the scoring in the ninth minute, powering home a header from Lamine Yamal's corner after a goalkeeping error by Marko Dmitrovic. The pair combined again before halftime, as Yamal's precise through-ball released Ferran to calmly slot past the Espanyol keeper for his second.

Espanyol responded after the break when Pol Lozano fired a low strike into the bottom corner in the 56th minute, capitalizing on loose defending. However, Barcelona restored their three-goal cushion late on: Yamal tapped home in the 87th minute following another Dmitrovic mistake, and substitute Marcus Rashford sealed the rout with a sharp finish after receiving a superb pass from Frenkie de Jong.

The result moves Barcelona nine points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga. Meanwhile, Yamal made history during the match, becoming the youngest player ever to reach 100 La Liga appearances at 18 years and 272 days, surpassing previous records held by Raul and Iker Muniain.
