7M - Neuer Dismisses World Cup Talk After Bayern Win

Manuel Neuer expressed frustration at repeated questions regarding Germany's 2026 World Cup prospects following his standout performance in Bayern Munich's 2-1 Champions League victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
The 40-year-old goalkeeper made nine crucial saves to secure Bayern's first win against the Spanish giants at their home ground in approximately 25 years. Despite the historic result, post-match inquiries quickly turned to his international future.
"Everything to that topic has already been said," Neuer stated. "What is important now is the rest of the season at Bayern."
Teammate Aleksandar Pavlović offered a contrasting perspective when asked about potentially joining Neuer at the World Cup. "Yes, absolutely," the midfielder replied. "I would never say no to playing alongside Manu."
The pair have shared the pitch for Germany only once, during Pavlović's international debut in a pre-Euro 2024 friendly against Ukraine. Neuer announced his retirement from international duty following that tournament.
A potential World Cup reunion would mark their final opportunity to represent Germany together. However, given Neuer's recent comments and focus on club football, such a scenario appears increasingly unlikely.
