7M - Arteta Backs Arsenal To Replicate Sporting Success

Mikel Arteta has urged Arsenal to apply the same disciplined approach from their Champions League victory over Sporting CP as they return to Premier League action against Bournemouth this Saturday.
The Gunners secured a crucial 1-0 win in Lisbon on Tuesday, with Kai Havertz delivering a 91st-minute winner at Estadio Jose Alvalade. That result helped ease the disappointment of recent cup exits, including the EFL Cup final loss and an FA Cup defeat to Championship side Southampton.
Now focused on the domestic title race, Arsenal aim to extend their nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League. A pivotal period lies ahead, highlighted by a clash with second-placed Manchester City on April 19.
Arteta emphasized consistency in controllable factors. "Especially in the things that depend on us, it's nothing to do with quality or execution," he said. "Those are the things that have brought us here. If we maintain them, we have a great chance."
He added: "We're extremely happy. It was a big night, a big moment in the season. I talked about identity and the things I wanted to see on that pitch. It certainly happened. There was a shift there."
Bournemouth arrive at the Emirates following a 2-2 draw with Manchester United, a match that saw Harry Maguire dismissed in the 78th minute. Andoni Iraola's side sit 13th but remain within four points of seventh-placed Brentford.
The Cherries have shown contrasting form this term, recording both an unbeaten run of more than 10 games (W4 D7) and a winless stretch exceeding 10 matches (D5 L6). Marcus Tavernier has been key, contributing 10 goal involvements (six goals, four assists) in 28 Premier League appearances this season. Recently signing a contract extension until 2029, Tavernier stated: "Signing the contract was the easiest decision. We're trying to keep building and making this club even better."
