Isak returns! Liverpool striker back in training in huge boost ahead of PSG showdown

Liverpool striker Alexander Isak has returned to training ahead of the Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Reds were hammered 4-0 by Manchester City in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday and will aim to bounce back against European champions PSG on Wednesday night.

Liverpool are out of both domestic cups and are struggling to work their way into the top 4 under manager Arne Slot who is under serious pressure as he chases success in the Champions League.

Ahead of the clash, the Premier League champions were handed a major boost as Alexander Isak was spotted in training with the rest of the squad.

The Swedish striker has been absent since suffering an ankle injury that included a fibula fracture during the 2-1 win at Tottenham in the Premier League on December 20th but could now finally be reintroduced into the side.

The 3125M attacker may be considered for a place on the bench this week as Slot looks to rest fellow summer signing Hugo Ekitike who has been given no respite since Isak’s injury.

Speaking on his fitness, Slot explained that the clash against Manchester City at the weekend was too soon and that the PSG game could be the perfect time for Isak to make his long awaited return.

“We came to the conclusion that it was better for him to have a few more sessions than only one or two and then immediately jump into a game like this, where if you bring him in, there might be extra-time.

“The situation is now that I hope – again, I hope – that he will be available for Wednesday, but today came too early for him.”
