Gerrard compares Salah leaving to Diaz replacing Mane: There's very few out there!
Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard says replacing Mohamed Salah will be difficult but not impossible.
Salah confirmed two weeks ago that he is set to leave the Reds at the end of the season after several years with the club where he has established himself as a legendary figure.
Liverpool will prioritise replacing the Egyptian this summer as they scout a number of options who could possibly step in for the winger who is eyeing up a move to the Saudi Pro League.
Now, speaking on talkSPORT, Gerrard was asked about how hard it is to replace Salah as Liverpool face an almost impossible task.
"The concern if you're trying to Salah, like-for-like, there's very few out there," Gerrard continued. "Olise would be one, but I don't think he'd be available.
"From experience, being around Liverpool, the recruitment team will have different options, that doesn't necessarily mean like-for-like. When we had to replace Mane for example, we went for signed Diaz who was slightly different, when Suarez or Torres has left, they've had different type of options to replace the players.
"Liverpool have a fantastic record of replacing top players so I've got every confidence from a recruitment point of view that they'll have different options. They'll have to replace his goal involvements which is extremely difficult because he's been incredible for Liverpool for many years."
Having registered 16 goals and 28 assists across 40 appearances in all competitions, Bayern Munich star Michael Olise could be the perfect candidate to replace Salah alongside RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande who the club are set to hold talks with in the coming months.
