Man Utd set to hand Kobbie Mainoo a new contract after Harry Maguire's extension this week
Manchester United are preparing to hand Kobbie Mainoo a new deal following Harry Maguire's extension.
Maguire has put pen to paper on a new Manchester United contract on Tuesday as he committed his future to the club after breaking his way back into the first team under interim manager Michael Carrick.
The veteran’s form saw him rewarded with an England recall last month, and he played the full 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw with Uruguay.
England team-mate Mainoo, who has also burst back into the starting eleven since Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim, is also set for a contract extension in the coming days as United tie down two top talents.
Mainoo failed to win over Amorim, but Carrick has seen a spark in him this season which has pushed him towards staying with the Red Devils after trying to force a move to Napoli last summer.
As reported by The Standard, Mainoo’s current deal expires in the summer of 2027, but he is reported to have been offered a new and improved five-year contract lasting until 2031.
This is a four-year extension for the midfielder who reports are counting on replacing Casemiro who announced that he will depart the side once his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
Carrick has started Mainoo in all 10 matches he has taken charge of so far and his announcement is set to come over the next few days in what is huge news for the side who are clearly keen to lock down their top talent.
