Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has suggested what the club's plans for the summer window should be.

The Red Devils are set to qualify for next season's Champions League as they sit third in the Premier League, six points above fifth-placed Liverpool.

Interim boss Michael Carrick is set to be handed the permanent role after working his magic with the side who desperately need improvements this summer ahead of the new season.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes has named several players who he believes should be cut from the side as he brutally predicts who could depart.

On Patrick Dorgu: “They brought him in as a wing-back and he's not really played there,' he said. 'I'd probably sell. I'm not sure what position he is. Again, if you keep him, then he's just a squad player.”

Noussair Mazraoui: '”ell. I don't know where he fits in. He's been like a right-sided centre-half and they don't play with three centre-halves any more. If there are three centre-halves, then you'd probably have him as one of five or six, but I think it's probably time to let him go now.”

Leny Yoro: “They paid a lot of money for him, but I think he's struggled. I think there's something in there, I think he needs a bit of time, but if you had to make a choice now, I'd probably sell him.”

Mason Mount: “I'd probably sell him - and I like him, he's a great footballer,' Scholes said. 'But he's never going to play in front of Bruno Fernandes. I'm not sure what other position he could play and he doesn't play enough games.”

Scholes also said to sell Luke Shaw, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro and Harry Maguire who of course has now signed a contract extension with the side.

United are within touching distance of being back in the Champions League for the first time since a group stage exit in the final months of 2023 and with such an achievement comes brutal squad changes much like Scholes suggests.
