7M - England World Cup 2026 squad prediction under Thomas Tuchel revealed

Thomas Tuchel has concluded England's final World Cup preparation matches with a one one draw against Uruguay and a one nil defeat to Japan at Wembley. The manager now faces selecting his twenty six man squad for the twenty twenty six World Cup in the United States.

Tuchel rested eleven players for the Uruguay fixture including Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Marc Guehi, Ezri Konsa, Dan Burn, Dean Henderson, Nico O'Reilly, Elliot Anderson, Morgan Rogers and Anthony Gordon. These players are considered strong contenders for the final squad. Following the draw, several injured players including Saka, Rice, John Stones, Adam Wharton and Noni Madueke were released along with Aaron Ramsdale, Fikayo Tomori and Dominic Calvert-Lewin whose selection chances appear remote.

Harry Maguire earned a recall after a two year international absence and impressed against Uruguay though Tuchel described him as a fifth choice centre back behind Guehi, Stones, Konsa and Trevoh Chalobah. James Garner also made a positive impression on his senior debut.

The Japan match saw Kane withdraw late with Phil Foden deployed as a false nine in a toothless attacking display. Tuchel acknowledged Kane's irreplaceable influence stating no team in the world has the same threat without him.

The predicted squad features Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson and James Trafford in goal. Defence includes Marc Guehi, John Stones, Ezri Konsa, Dan Burn, Harry Maguire, Reece James, Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall and Nico O'Reilly. Midfield options are Declan Rice, Elliot Anderson, Jordan Henderson, Kobbie Mainoo, Jude Bellingham, Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer. Attackers comprise Harry Kane, Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon, Marcus Rashford, Jarrod Bowen and Noni Madueke.

Several players remain on the fringe including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Eberechi Eze, Phil Foden, Dominic Solanke and Ivan Toney who must impress in remaining club fixtures to secure selection.
