Arsenal face Southampton in the FA Cup Quarter Final this weekend and could be without up to 12 players.
Saturday's FA Cup quarter-final showdown with Southampton at St Mary's takes place two weeks after The Gunners fell short in the EFL Cup final against Manchester City.
Arsenal have reached the quarter-finals for the first time since their last cup triumph in 2019-20. Interestingly, the North London side have gone on to win the tournament on each of the last four occasions that they have reached the semi-finals.
However, ahead of the game, 10 Arsenal players pulled out of international duty in March including Martin Zubimendi, Piero Hincapie, Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber.
These 8 players are reportedly being protected by manager Mikel Arteta who called his players back as to not risk any further injuries over the break where all players’ countries had already qualified for the World Cup.
However, Eberechi Eze (Calf/Shin/Heel Injury )and Noni Madueke (knee), Martin Odegaard (knee) and Mikel Merino (foot) are also out with well reported injuries, meaning they will miss the Saints clash.
That makes 12 Arsenal players who could miss the Southampton game this weekend, with 4 stars almost certain to miss out as Arteta rotates his side.
Arsenal's last FA Cup title defence ended at St Mary's behind closed doors in the 2020-21 third round and they will seek revenge as they aim to go all the way again this season.
