Carrick worried as Manchester United defender hit with FA charge and faces extended ban
Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been charged with improper conduct after being sent off against Bournemouth.
Maguire was shown a red card for pushing Bournemouth forward Evanilson to the ground in the penalty area after which the Cherries levelled the score from the subsequent penalty thanks to Junior Kroupi.
The FA has confirmed that Maguire has been charged following an investigation into his behaviour as he was spotted protesting the decision before moving to confront the fourth official.
The FA released a statement confirming the charge which will come as a worry for interim boss Michael Carrick.
“Harry Maguire has been charged after being sent off in the 78th minute of Man Utd’s Premier League match against Bournemouth on March 20.
“It’s alleged that the defender acted in an improper manner and/or abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour towards the fourth official following his dismissal.
“Harry Maguire has until April 2 to provide a response.”
The England star is set to miss the match against Leeds United when club football returns as United try to cope without him in the fight for Champions League football.
