Aston Villa's Jadon Sancho left the friendly against Elche in a sling as fans fear the worst.

Villa concluded their mid-season trip to Spain with a friendly fixture against La Liga side Elche this week as they lost 2-1 in what was a tough clash for the Premier League side.

Pau Torres headed the visitors into a 21st-minute lead, but it was not enough for Unai Emery’s side who collapsed against their Spanish opponents away from home.

What is even worse for Emery is that Sancho left the field wearing his shirt as a makeshift sling following a strong challenge from Gonzalo Villar five minutes before the interval that left him unable to continue.

The on loan Manchester United star will now be further assessed by Villa’s medical staff in what looks like a serious injury for the winger who could be out for some time.

With just 7 Premier League games remaining, Sancho’s season may be over as fans await updates on an injury that could leave him sidelined for months.

Villa have a six-point cushion inside the top-five of the Premier League with seven matches of the league season remaining as they chase down Champions League football.

Villa's next match is on Thursday 9th April against Bologna in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Quarter Final where Sancho is very unlikely to feature after such a serious incident.
