7M - Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-2 Wales: Edin Dzeko fires them to World Cup playoff final after penalties

Bosnia Herzegovina advanced to the World Cup 2026 European zone playoff final after defeating Wales in a dramatic penalty shootout. In the semifinal, the match finished 1-1 after extra time, then Bosnia won the shootout 4-2.

In the final, Bosnia Herzegovina will face Italy on 1 April 2026 at Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica, Bosnia Herzegovina. Italy reached the final after beating Northern Ireland 2-0 in their previous semifinal.

Wales started the match strongly, controlling the ball for up to 60 percent and taking 18 shots. Daniel James scored for Wales in the 52nd minute, but Edin Dzeko equalised for Bosnia in the 86th minute after receiving a pass from Kerim Alajbegovic.

During extra time there were no further goals, and the winner was decided on penalties. Bosnia goalkeeper stopped two Wales takers, Neco Williams and Brennan Johnson, as Bosnia scored through Kerim Alajbegovic, Hadziahmetovic, Basic, and Tabakovic, while for Wales only Mark Harris and Harry Wilson scored.
