France began World Cup preparations with a 2-1 friendly win over Brazil, with Kylian Mbappe driving the attack even after being reduced to 10 men early in the second half.
The France captain opened the scoring in the first half. Hugo Ekitike doubled the lead after Dayot Upamecano was sent off 10 minutes into the second half for a straight red card. Gleison Bremer pulled one back for Brazil in the 78th minute, but France held on.
France struck first in the 32nd minute through Mbappe, after Aurelien Tchouameni won back possession and set up Ousmane Dembele, who released Mbappe down the right. Mbappe then accelerated clear of Leo Pereira before lifting a right foot finish over Ederson.
Brazil threatened to respond, with Vinicius Junior capitalizing on a loose ball and sliding in Gabriel Martinelli, whose effort from the edge of the area curled just wide. Luiz Henrique replaced Raphina at halftime and tested Mike Maignan early in the second half before Upamecano received the red.
France later increased their advantage in the 65th minute, as Ekitike dinked a right foot effort past Ederson after being played through by Michael Olise on the end of a counter attack. After Bremer scored from Luiz Henrique cross in the 78th minute, France sealed their first victory against Brazil in Didier Deschamps coaching career.
