7M - Manchester City 1-2 Real Madrid (1-5 agg): Vinicius Junior double sends 10-man City crashing out of Europe

Real Madrid secured their place in the Champions League quarter-finals for the third consecutive season with a professional 2-1 victory over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

The tie swung heavily in the visitors' favor after just 20 minutes when Bernardo Silva was shown a straight red card for a deliberate handball on the goal line. Vinicius Junior stepped up to smash home the resulting penalty, leaving Pep Guardiola’s side with a mountain to climb.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, City showed flashes of defiance and leveled the scoring before the break through Erling Haaland. However, with the aggregate score heavily skewed in Madrid’s favor, the second half became a controlled exercise for the 15-time winners. Vinícius Júnior added a second in stoppage time to put the result beyond doubt and confirm City’s exit from the competition.
