Ex-Spain coach Moreno: There is no relationship with Luis Enrique
Roberto Moreno admits his relationship with PSG coach Luis Enrique is now "non-existent".
Moreno was Enrique's assistant with Spain, but has revealed they fell out during that period.
The relationship broke down when Enrique had to leave the national team due to personal issues and Moreno was put in charge.
"It was impossible to talk to him," former Sochi coach Moreno now reveals.
"I spoke indirectly with his psychologist because it was impossible to talk to him. I said it was something I was only going to do if he gave the go-ahead. And he gave it."
He continued: "I know things, but I'm not going to say them because third parties told me them and I want to respect them. Let everyone interpret what they want. I have realised that the story is much stronger than the truth many times."
Moreno recalled the plan was to fulfill what he had said, that he would stay with Spain until Enrique recovered, something that did not happen: "I went to his house after the unfortunate death of his daughter and I told him that what I had said publicly I was going to fulfill. He told me he wasn't counting on me anymore that I would never train with him again."
That's where the relationship broke down. Once recovered from his daughter's passing, Enrique returned to the Spanish team, but no longer had Moreno as assistant coach.
"They tried to present me as an ogre, as someone who wanted to stay at all costs," he says in an interview with former footballer Mario Su1reaz.
"Very ugly things were published about how I hadn't gone to see him at that time, when what we really did was respect everything he told us. On a personal level it was very hard."
