Brazil boss Carlo Ancelotti explains Neymar snub

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has come out to explain why he decided against recalling Neymar for their March friendlies.

Several reports had suggested that Neymar, 34, would be recalled to the Brazil squad for their friendlies against France and Croatia.

It wasn’t meant to be, however, as Ancelotti decided against bringing the winger back into the fold for the first time since 2023.

Ancelotti has now come out to explain why he made the call, leaving the door open to a potential World Cup spot.

“Neymar can go to the World Cup if he is at 100% of his form. I didn’t call Neymar now because he is not at 100%,” he said.

“We need players at the best level of their form. Neymar must continue to work, to play, to show his qualities, and to be in good physical condition.”
