7M - FC St. Pauli Faces Disappointment After Loss to Gladbach
Posted Saturday, March 14, 2026 by 7M Sport
FC St. Pauli endured a frustrating 2-0 defeat against Borussia Monchengladbach, leaving manager Alexander Blessin visibly annoyed. This match, held on March 13, 2026, was crucial in the battle against relegation.

Despite starting strong defensively for the first ten minutes, St. Pauli faltered as Gladbach capitalized on errors. Blessin expressed his frustration, stating, "It didn't feel like a 2-0 loss. We gave away two gifts." The coach criticized his team's failure to maintain control and allowed the opponents to take advantage of defensive lapses.
The first goal came from a free-kick scored by Kevin Stoger in the 37th minute. Blessin pointed out that a foul leading to the free-kick could have been avoided if Eric Smith had positioned himself better.
With the deficit, St. Pauli struggled to regain momentum, and a second goal by Honorat in the 62nd minute sealed their fate. Blessin lamented, "We didn't apply pressure up front. Our movements were sluggish, and we got punished for it."
As St. Pauli looks ahead, they face a crucial match against Freiburg on March 22, hoping to bounce back and secure vital points in their fight to avoid relegation.
