In a tightly contested match, Arsenal managed to secure a 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie at the BayArena.

The Gunners fell behind in the second half when Robert Andrich headed in a corner from Alejandro Grimaldo just one minute after the break. This marked the first time Arsenal had trailed in the Champions League this season.
However, late drama ensued as Kai Havertz converted a penalty in the 89th minute, leveling the score. The penalty was awarded after Noni Madueke was fouled by Malik Tillman in the box. Havertz, returning to face his former club, calmly slotted the ball past Janis Blaswich.
Arsenal had a strong start, with Gabriel Martinelli nearly scoring early on, but the match shifted after Leverkusen capitalized on their set-piece opportunities. Despite their struggles, Arsenal's resilience shone through, allowing them to secure a valuable away goal.
The next leg at the Emirates Stadium is set for March 17, with both teams aiming for a place in the quarter-finals.
