Inter chief shuts down Arsenal's reported interest in wonderkid Esposito

Inter Milan president Giuseppe Marotta has rubbished talks that Premier League leaders Arsenal tried to sign sensation Francesco Pio Esposito in January.

The 20-year-old is having a breakout season at Inter, scoring four goals and providing three assists in his 956 Serie A minutes.

Several reports have suggested that Premier League leaders Arsenal are impressed by Esposito and inquired about him in January.

Marotta has now spoken about the rumours, insisting that no conversation ever took place.

“Arsenal did not ask for Pio Esposito despite reports,” he said.

“We are not planning to sell top players; player trading is not our priority. We see Pio Esposito as key gem for our future.

“Anything can happen in the future, but I mean a very far future”.
