England and Portugal to fight over Mateus Mane ahead of this summer's World Cup
Wolves forward Mateus Mane is set to choose from England and Portugal ahead of the World Cup.
Reports this month have claimed that Manchester United have held initial talks with Mane‘s agent in recent days after what has been an impressive season so far for the 18-year-old.
Mane has scored twice in 20 games and became the club's youngest Premier League goalscorer as he fights for the side who are dead bottom of the table as relegation looms.
As reported by the BBC, his form has caught the eye of Portugal manager Roberto Martinez who is set on to convincing him to play for Portugal ahead of this summer’s World Cup in the US, Mexico and Canada.
Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Everton are all interested in the teenager who is about to cause an international tug of war before the season concludes.
While Mane’s contract at0Wolves runs until the summer of 2029, relegation to the Championship would help clubs in snatching him away from his current side who could be forced to sell if they drop down.
The BBC report that no decision on Mane's international future has been made but as the World Cup approaches, Martinez and England boss Thomas Tuchel will be in talks in what will be an interesting fight for the youngster.
