Newcastle plan to reject Liverpool's summer offer for Gordon as transfer race heats up
Newcastle have no plans to cash in on in-form Anthony Gordon as interest from Liverpool grows.
In the summer, Liverpool concluded deals for Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz in what was an expensive attacking overhaul for the Premier League champions.
Despite this, Arne Slot’s attack has looked weak this season as they fight for European football rather than the title alongside Arsenal and Manchester City.
Gordon scored four times as Newcastle recorded a 6-1 win over Qarabag in the first leg of their Champions League knockout round playoff on Wednesday night and has been linked with The Reds who plan on upgrading their attack even further.
However, talkSPORT report that The Magpies have no interest in selling Gordon and have zero plans to sell if an offer is received over the coming months.
In the summer of 2024, Liverpool agreed a deal to sign Gordon to help Newcastle comply with Profit & Sustainability Rules, but the deal was cancelled after Newcastle sold Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to comply with financial rules.
Gordon is a boyhood Liverpool fan and began his youth career with the club before switching to rivals Everton.
The 24-year-old is on 14 goals and five assists for the season for Newcastle and Liverpool will be keeping a close eye on his form ahead of the summer window where Slot may push a deal forward.
