Zinedine Zidane has reached an agreement with the French Football Federation.

The former Real Madrid coach is ready to succeed Didier Deschamps as France coach after this summer's World Cup. Deschamps announced last year that he would be stepping down after the tournament.

According to the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Zidane has a verbal agreement in place with the French Football Federation to become a national coach after the 2026 World Cup.

Nothing is therefore yet signed, but it is understood Zidane will take charge of France for the Euro 2028 qualifying campaign.

French legend Zizou has been out of football since 2021, after leaving Real Madrid.
