Barcelona defender Cubarsi: We can't blame the ref; we were poor

Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi insists Girona's winner should never have stood last night.

Barca lost 2-1, with a flashpoint being Girona's late winner scored by Fran Beltran. The visitors insist Jules Kounde was fouled in the build-up by Claudio Echeverri.

Cubarsi said at the final whistle: “Everyone saw it. People already know what happened. We can't blame the referee; we have to improve ourselves.

"We can't concede two goals like that. We played a bad game; we have to improve, but first we need to focus on ourselves.

"We were lacking a little bit of everything. We need to be self-critical. We need to improve four things and get our act together."

He added: "After my goal, they scored very quickly. You get them back into the game very fast. We have to improve on those goals they score right after we take the lead. Heads down, we'll improve."
