Benfica president Costa confirms Mourinho to stay at club next season despite rumours

Benfica president Rui Costa made brief statements to the Spanish press this Tuesday, ahead of the match against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League playoffs, and assured that Jose Mourinho will continue with the club next season.

Just hours before hosting0Real Madrid, the Benfica0president answered two questions from Spain’s Chiringuito, ultimately confirming that Mourinho will remain in charge for the 2026/27 season.

"Yes, he will remain," Rui Costa replied when asked if Mourinho would stay "next year."

In a hurried manner, the Benfica president also said he expects a tough match this Tuesday against Real Madrid.

It’s worth noting that in recent days, the Spanish press has been reporting rumours about a possible return of the so-called 'Special One' to the Santiago Bernabeu.
