Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave Real Madrid as tensions rise at the Spanish side.

The former Liverpool defender off the bench in the dying moments of Sunday's 2-0 win over Valencia over the weekend after two months due to a muscle tear.

He replaced David Jimenez at right-back, a youngster who is favoured over the Englishman despite being 21 years old.

Jimenez was given a start ahead of Trent and his fellow right-back Dani Carvajal, who is still suffering from a knee injury he picked up earlier this season.

As reported by Liverpool.com, Spanish broadcasters turned their cameras on the defender among the substitutes, capturing his expressionless, confused look as Trent stepped onto the pitch.

Sources close to the player told The Athletic, he was "p----- off" about being overlooked by Arbeloa after working hard in training to get back to full fitness.

Real Madrid appointed Alvaro Arbeloa as the manager in January following the departure of Xabi Alonso, and the Spaniard has suggested barely handed Alexander-Arnold a chance to impress.

As per the Spanish publication AS, there is no truth to any reports that the Spanish manager doesn't like Alexander-Arnold and there are no plans to sell him, despite his lack of game time.

Alexander-Arnold joined Real Madrid from Liverpool in the summer of 2025 and was expected to be a massive success at Estadio Bernabeu, but his move has been a complete disaster that doesn’t look like it will improve anytime soon
