7M - West Ham United 1-1 Manchester United: Late Sesko Leveler Shatters Hosts' Victory Hopes

West Ham United appeared poised to secure all three points against Manchester United, but Benjamin Sesko scripted a different conclusion.
Benjamin Sesko's 96th-minute equalizer shattered West Ham's resistance at the death, as Manchester United snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw at the London Stadium.
Michael Carrick seemed destined to suffer his first defeat since returning to Old Trafford, but Sesko emerged with another late goal to salvage a point.
The first half was a cautious affair, with Crysencio Summerville denied by Senne Lammens before Luke Shaw saw his attempt cleared off the line by former teammate Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
However, just five minutes after the restart, West Ham broke the deadlock. Jarrod Bowen capitalized on Shaw being caught out of position, delivering a low cross from the right which Tomas Sesko deftly flicked through Lammens' legs.
Casemiro – marking his 150th appearance for United – thought he had equalized shortly after the hour mark, but his header was disallowed for a marginal offside decision.
The game opened up in stoppage time. Joshua Zirkzee glanced a header wide before Lammens stood firm to deny substitute Callum Wilson in a one-on-one following a rapid counter-attack.
Yet Sesko ultimately had the final say, drifting into space inside the box with a minute remaining to steer Bryan Mbeumo's cross into the net.
The result preserved United's position in the Premier League's top four. West Ham remain 18th, two points behind Nottingham Forest – a gap they would have erased if not for the late, crushing blow.
Late goals were a hallmark of United during Carrick's playing days. For the second time since succeeding Rúben Amorim, the Red Devils' manager saw Šeško net a crucial stoppage-time strike, having also scored the winner against Fulham.
Timed at 95:11, Sesko's leveler is the latest result-altering goal West Ham – who have now dropped 20 points from winning positions this season – have conceded at home in Premier League records (since 2006-07).
United struggled to create quality chances, managing only nine shots (worth 0.63 expected goals). This marks only the second time this season they have registered fewer than 10 attempts in a Premier League match (following five against Tottenham in September).
There was, however, a slice of history for Soucek. His goal was his 39th in the top flight, making him the outright highest-scoring Czech player in Premier League history, surpassing Patrik Berger.
