'We're Both Hurting' - Alvaro Morata Opens Up About Separation from Wife Alice Campello as Former Chelsea & Real Madrid Striker Addresses Infidelity Rumors

Former Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata has confirmed the end of his relationship with influencer wife Alice Campello, stating the two "do not understand each other." The Como striker, currently on loan from AC Milan, had tried to revive their romance, but his attempts seem to have been unsuccessful. Morata also responded firmly to speculation about unfaithfulness.
Morata's Separation
Morata and Campello appear to have officially parted ways. The couple first announced their separation in August 2024, following Spain's European Championship victory. They reconciled in January of last year, with Campello calling their initial split "the worst mistake we have ever made in our lives."
However, Spanish magazine Hola now reports that this second attempt has not endured. According to the publication, the high-profile couple have been living apart for several weeks. Morata has moved out of the family home he shared with Campello and their four young children—twins Alessandro and Leonardo, Edoardo, and Bella.
Campello has, however, denied any infidelity, despite rumors concerning Morata's relationship with a sports management professional named Elena Sirigu.
She stated: "Elena is a family friend whom I have known for years, and I can say with absolute certainty that she is not that type of person and has never done anything she has been accused of," Campello wrote in an emotional post. She revealed that Sirigu had called her in tears after being labeled a "homewrecker," prompting Campello to speak out publicly to defend her friend's reputation.
"I am defending Elena because she is innocent and because, as a woman, I know very well how deeply such accusations can wound," she added. "Our relationship has always been transparent: she even dedicated her undergraduate thesis to Masqmai [Campello's beauty brand], and she is a serious person with values and a respectable family."
'We Are Both Hurting'
Morata acknowledges that the relationship breakdown has been painful for both parties.
"We are suffering because we are two people who love each other, but we do not understand each other," he told Alexia Rivas.
"Alice is not having a harder time than me just because many say she is the one suffering. I want to make it clear that we are both hurting; it is not that she is bitter—we are both in pain."
He also supported his ex-wife's statements, insisting he has not been involved with Sirigu.
He added: "There is no special friend or anything like that; I am not interested in that right now. The day I have a special friend, I will be seen with her openly and you will know."
"People who claim there are third parties involved in a separation like this, especially when children are affected, simply have no heart."
Morata's Struggles
Morata's loan stint at Como has not gone as planned. The striker has yet to score a Serie A goal for the club, with his only goal coming in the Italian Cup against Fiorentina. He has previously spoken openly about his mental health, sharing his difficulties in front of goal.
"I had many terrible, self-destructive thoughts," he admitted. "Is it worth playing for Spain if everywhere I go with my family, there are unpleasant incidents, with people insulting and mocking you? It is not worth it."
He spoke about the pain of being jeered by his own fans while representing the national team and the conflict between wanting to retire and not wanting to let the "haters" win. "If I retire from international football, they will win," he asserted at the time. As he faces this new personal challenge with the end of his marriage, that resilience will once again be tested as he seeks to rebuild his life both on and off the field in Milan.
