Barcelona presidential candidate in contact with Atletico Madrid striker Alvarez

Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez is set to become a key identity for Barcelona's elections next month.

On March 15th, members of the Catalan club will go to the polls, and the alternatives to current president Joan Laporta are already positioning themselves.

MARCA says one of the names that will be frequently heard in these elections will be 1lvarez.

The Atletico Madrid striker, who has not performed at his expected level this season, could be looking for a change of scenery this summer, and at least one of the candidates for the presidential seat has already contacted the player's representatives to try and make him their star signing for next season.

Entering the election campaign with a player of this calibre would be a major coup, especially considering that with Robert Lewandowski's likely departure, Barcelona needs a partner for Ferran Torres in attack.

And as it stands, Alvarez's name is going to be very prominent in the lead up to Barca's election.
