However, the visitors quickly found themselves under pressure, conceding a penalty just two minutes later when Oscar Hojlund, the younger brother of Rasmus, received a second yellow card for fouling Rani Khedira in the box.

Before the penalty could be taken, the referee halted the game due to the heavy smoke created by the flares, obscuring visibility on the pitch. Once the haze cleared, Leopold Querfeld converted the penalty, equalizing for Union Berlin.
