Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola defended his recent comments about global conflicts, including the situation in Gaza, expressing the importance of addressing human suffering beyond the realm of soccer.

His remarks faced backlash, particularly from Manchester's Jewish community, who advised him to concentrate on football and to choose his words thoughtfully.
In a press conference ahead of the Premier League match against Liverpool, Guardiola reiterated his condemnation of all forms of violence. "We have more information than ever about suffering across the globe," he stated, referring to conflicts in various regions, including Palestine and Ukraine. "It hurts me to see innocent people facing harm. I condemn all conflicts without prioritizing one over another."
Guardiola's comments, particularly his mention of Gaza, prompted strong reactions from some community members, urging him to remain focused on soccer. "I didn't say anything special," he commented. "Why should I not express what I feel just because I am a manager? There are numerous conflicts worldwide, and I condemn every act of violence."
The manager previously sparked controversy by attending a pro-Palestine event in Barcelona while wearing a keffiyeh and urging the audience not to ignore the violence in Gaza. On Friday, he dismissed suggestions that he should be quiet about political matters, emphasizing the importance of speaking out against injustice.
"Why should someone in football not discuss these issues?" he challenged, underscoring that silence perpetuates inaction.
