Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi could join forces at Inter Miami under owner David Beckham.

Messi has been crowned the winner of the coveted Ballon d'Or eight times, with Ronaldo his closest challenger with five. Last year Messi revealed that although the pair has respect for each other, they are not “friends”.

Ronaldo is currently chasing down the title in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr whilst Messi is on the books at MLS outfit Inter Miami, owned by Manchester United and Real Madrid legend David Beckham.

Many have wondered if the pair will ever feature together during the last few years of their careers in what sounds like an impossible idea.

Speaking to GOAL via bookmaker Betfree, Edwards has revealed that if it were ever going to happen, it would be in Miami.

“If there was a place that could happen, it would be somewhere like Inter Miami. Unfortunately, I don’t think it will ever happen. All of the fanatics, we would love to see them play in a team one day and work together before they both retire. I don’t think it will happen but if there was a chance, I think David Beckham would be the one to make that happen.

“You have these two great football players that are global figures, very famous, great footballers - I can’t see it ever happening because you have two dominant figures that wherever they play, whatever team, it is their team.

“If it was ever going to happen, it would have to be in a neutral team that they have both never played for, and they are coming together. I hope we see it one day.”

Both players will feature on the biggest stage for the final time in the USA next summer as the World Cup gets underway in what may be the last tournament the pair play in together.
