7M - Carrick: A Victory Beyond Three Points
Posted Monday, February 02, 2026 by 7M Sport
Michael Carrick believes Manchester United's thrilling late win against Fulham represents more than just three points in the Premier League.

The Reds were aiming for a third consecutive victory under Carrick, thanks to goals from Casemiro and Matheus Cunha. However, Fulham stunned Old Trafford by scoring twice in quick succession, with Raul Jimenez converting a penalty followed by Kevin's impressive strike.
The atmosphere shifted dramatically when Benjamin Sesko found the net with a deft finish from Bruno Fernandes' cross, bringing the score to 3-2.
In his post-match comments to Sky Sports and MUTV, Carrick expressed his thoughts:
WE KNEW IT'D BE TOUGH
"I've emphasized before that Old Trafford is a special place, and we knew today would be challenging. Fulham are a strong team, and I prepared the players for the questions they would face. It was never going to be straightforward. At halftime, I told the players it would require hard work, especially after Fulham's impressive near-comeback against City. The late goal we conceded last week made this win even more significant."
GREEDY FOR MORE
"The emotion of scoring a late winner at the Stretford End is something you become greedy for. For Ben, scoring that goal is vital for his growth. Such moments are what make football special; not many experience them, but he has."
LET'S CELEBRATE
"The last goal ignited huge celebrations, reflecting why we love this game. The transition from disappointment to elation is what makes football thrilling. The joy shared between the players, staff, and supporters is what we seek. It boosts our mindset going into injury time, knowing we came here to win."
CASEMIRO IN THE GROOVE
"Casemiro has been a dominant presence since my arrival. His drive and motivation are essential, especially nearing the season's end. His performance and goal today were significant."
MORE TO COME FROM CUNHA
"Matheus possesses immense talent, and I believe he has even more to offer. His recent contributions, including crucial goals and assists, mark significant progress."
WHAT'S NEXT?
"There's excitement ahead as we look to build on this victory. We want our supporters to come in enthusiastic for the next match. However, we remain focused on taking it game by game. While we've secured three wins in a row, we aim to improve and play more comfortably in future matches. When victories come like this, they resonate deeply, impacting everyone involved."
