Slot Confident of Keeping Robertson Amid Tottenham Rumors

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has reaffirmed his confidence that Andy Robertson will stay at the club this season, despite reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Sources indicate initial talks were held between the clubs regarding a potential move for the Scottish left-back, whose contract expires this summer. Robertson is said to be seeking more regular playing time.
However, a transfer is considered unlikely unless Liverpool can secure a suitable replacement, leading the club to lean toward retaining the experienced defender.

Robertson Remains in Slot's Plans
Slot confirmed that Robertson remains a key part of his immediate plans, stating there has been "no significant development" regarding a potential departure. The Dutch coach emphasized the importance of Robertson's experience and availability, especially given Liverpool's current injury concerns.
"Robbo will be part of the team tomorrow night," Slot said. "He has been part of this squad for many years, and I'm happy to have him. Nothing is happening regarding his future at the moment. It's hard to say anything for certain in football, but my expectation is that he stays."
Defensive Crisis Ahead of Champions League Clash
Liverpool's defensive issues have worsened, with Joe Gomez sustaining a hip injury in the 2–3 defeat to Bournemouth and Ibrahima Konate absent due to personal reasons.
Slot confirmed a severe shortage at center-back ahead of their Champions League match against Qarabag. "For the center-back position tomorrow, we have very few options. Apart from Virgil van Dijk, no other center-backs are available."
He praised Van Dijk's consistency and fitness, noting, "At his age, playing every minute is something that shouldn’t be taken for granted."
Slot Adapts Tactics Amid Injury Crisis
With a depleted squad, Slot acknowledged having to adjust tactics and deploy players out of position—a decision he understands may attract criticism.
"I have to adapt the system or use players in different positions," he explained. "This doesn’t help the external narrative, and I fully understand that. I speak with the players and know their situation. Without the full picture, criticism can easily arise."
