Chelsea Eye Loan Move for Douglas Luiz

Chelsea are exploring a loan deal for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, according to The Athletic.

The 26-year-old Brazilian, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, is seen as a potential solution to ease the workload on Enzo Fernández. Despite Moises Caicedo's established role, injuries to Romeo Lavia and Dario Essugo have left the midfield short on rotation options, leading to Fernandez being overused.

Luiz offers proven Premier League experience, tactical intelligence, and versatility—capable of playing as a deep-lying midfielder or in a box-to-box role. Since joining Forest last August, he has struggled for regular starts, especially after Sean Dyche took over in October, starting only twice in the league.

Forest’s deal includes an obligation to buy based on appearances, with a €30m option if the threshold isn’t met—a target currently far from being reached. This uncertainty has opened a window for Chelsea to consider a move.

Luiz joined Juventus from Aston Villa for €50m last summer but failed to make an impact, with a hamstring injury further limiting his playing time.

Meanwhile, Chelsea remain active in the transfer market and continue negotiations for centre-back Jeremy Jacquet.
