Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has launched a scathing critique of Arsenal, suggesting that even if they win the title this season, they risk being labelled "the worst champion in history."

Speaking on the podcast The Overlap, the 52-year-old pointed to the Gunners' lack of standout attackers as the key issue. "If Arsenal were to win the league, they could become the worst championship team in history," Scholes claimed. "Even if we picked a best XI of the season, none of Arsenal's frontline would get in."

He contrasted this with past champions like Liverpool, who boasted exceptional attacking talent. While acknowledging Bukayo Saka, Scholes noted the England winger "hasn't been particularly outstanding this season" in terms of goals and assists.

Scholes: Arsenal Could Be

Attacking Drought in Numbers
Scholes' criticism aligns with concerning statistics highlighted by Sky Sports and reported in the Daily Mail:
Bukayo Saka: No goals in 13 consecutive official games.

Gabriel Jesus: No non-penalty goals in his last 11 league matches.

Gabriel Martinelli: No goals in 13 consecutive league appearances.

Despite being the league's second-highest scorers collectively (42 goals), Arsenal's reliance on set-pieces has grown, with a European-high 26 goals from dead-ball situations this term. This has led to critiques that their open-play attack has weakened.

Carragher Echoes Concerns
Jamie Carragher echoed a similar sentiment on Sky Sports, stating it was "not normal" for a league-leading side to have no players in a theoretical seasonal best attacking XI. "If it's the best team, at least one or two attackers should be included," he said.

Arteta's Defiant Response
Manager Mikel Arteta remains unwavering in his belief. After holding "honest conversations" with his squad, he declared: "We will win the championship. This is our moment. We will go all the way with conviction and belief."he way with conviction and belief."
