Not to Persib, Maarten Paes Chooses to Join Ajax

Amsterdam - Maarten Paes has finally confirmed his transfer status. Not to Persib Bandung, the Indonesian national team goalkeeper will join Ajax Amsterdam.

According to reports by transfer specialist journalist Fabrizio Romano, Ajax has agreed to recruit Paes from FC Dallas. The 27-year-old goalkeeper will be contracted until 2029 by the Eredivisie giant.

"Ajax has agreed to the deal to recruit Maarten Paes from FC Dallas in MLS, permanent transfer," Romano wrote.

"His contract runs until June 2029, medical tests will follow as the deal has been approved and handled by agent SEG, Boy Kuijpers," Romano wrote on his social media.

This news also puts an end to the rumors about Maarten Paes joining Persib, which had surfaced recently. The Garuda goalkeeper will not be following Thom Haye and Eliano Reijnders to play in the Super League.

Previously, Paes had repeatedly denied rumors about joining Persib. He stated that all reports about it were false.

By joining Ajax, Paes will finally return to the Netherlands. Previously, he left his country of birth in 2022 to join FC Dallas.

In the United States, Paes performed well with FC Dallas. The former NEC Nijmegen and Utrecht goalkeeper played 128 matches, conceded 179 goals, and kept 25 clean sheets.

Maarten Paes, who was naturalized as an Indonesian national team player in 2024 and now has 10 caps, was previously selected for the 2024 MLS All-Star and won the MLS Save of the Year 2024.
