DONE DEAL: Chelsea confirm the signing of English wonderkid Yisa Alao

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Sheffield Wednesday's Yisa Alao in a huge January move.

Manchester United and Liverpool were also said to be in talks over the talented prospect, but it is the Blues who have the won the race for the 17-year-old who has made five appearances for Wednesday’s first-team this season.

United had a bid in the region of 3450,000 rejected by Wednesday before Christmas in a deal Standard Sport report to be worth around 3500K for the initial fee.

Chelsea confirmed the deal on Monday afternoon, revealing he has signed a two-year deal.

“Chelsea is pleased to announce the signing of Yisa Alao, with the left-back agreeing a contract with the Blues until 2028.

“Welcome to Chelsea, Yisa!”

The Doncaster born defender made his senior debut against Bolton in the Carabao Cup in August at the age of 16 and has been monitored by top sides for a number of years as he developed.

The Athletic report that a loan back out of the side could be on the cards, much like Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Caleb Wiley who joined EFL clubs to further their development.

Alao waved goodbye to Wednesday fans on his Instagram page:
