7M - Arsenal's Title Push Stalls After Costly Errors in 3-2 Loss to United

Mikel Arteta attributed Arsenal's 3-2 home defeat to Manchester United to a series of uncharacteristic individual mistakes, as their Premier League lead shrank to four points.

Speaking after the match, Arteta said: "The first error leads to the second. There were three or four, which is very unusual." He noted that despite dominating the opening 30 minutes and taking a 1-0 lead, a mis-hit back-pass by Martín Zubimendi gifted Bryan Mbeumo an equalizer, shifting momentum.
United then stunned the league leaders with two long-range strikes—Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha each scoring from distance in the second half. Cunha's 87th-minute winner came moments after Arsenal had leveled through Noni Madueke, who missed a one-on-one chance just before.
Arteta acknowledged his team's anxiety following recent goalless draws but emphasized resilience: "We have to show the mental strength we have on matchdays."
He declined to protest two potential handball incidents involving Dorgu and Harry Maguire, accepting the officials' judgments. He also dismissed criticism of fans who booed at halftime: "We have to do more, and when we do that we can rest in peace."
Meanwhile, interim United manager Michael Carrick praised his squad's composure: "We understood the flow of the game… digging in when needed, then taking control. And we got two fantastic goals."
