The Lions of Teranga secured their second Afcon crown following a high-stakes and dramatic final against host nation Morocco in Rabat last Sunday. Mane, 33, captained the Senegalese side to a 1-0 win in extra time, decided by a 94th-minute strike from Pape Gueye.

The victory followed a period of intense chaos in the final minutes of regulation time when Morocco was granted a controversial penalty. The decision prompted Pape Thiaw's side to briefly walk off the pitch in protest. However, the former Liverpool icon played a pivotal role in restoring order, convincing his teammates to return after a 17-minute standoff to finish the match.

During the subsequent tension, Real Madrid star Brahim Diaz saw his Panenka penalty attempt fail as he chipped the ball directly to former Chelsea keeper Edouard Mendy, who comfortably made the save.

Mane arrived back in Saudi Arabia on Friday to rejoin Jorge Jesus' squad and was immediately greeted by a welcoming committee of his peers. Footage captured Mane embracing his teammates before the group gathered around a custom cake presented by club captain Cristiano Ronaldo, 40.

The cake featured an image of the former Southampton forward lifting the Afcon trophy alongside his national teammates in Morocco. It was inscribed with the message: "Congratulations Senegal champion. Congratulations Sadio."

After taking a bite of the cake to the cheers of the squad, Mane expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thank you, guys."

Speaking later to the club's media channels, the winger shifted his focus back to domestic duties. Mane remarked: "Thank you guys, I'm really happy for the present. I didn't expect this. It was such a warm welcome and I'm really, really happy about it. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season."
