Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a new central defender in the ongoing January transfer window.

It had been widely reported that Chelsea were expecting to have a quiet January transfer window, but that has since changed.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liam Rosenior’s side are now on the lookout for a new centre-back following some ‘internal discussions.’

Former manager Enzo Maresca asked the club to sign a new central defender following Levi Colwill’s ACL injury in the summer but was turned down.

Chelsea currently have Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, and Josh Acheampong on their books.
