A retired England international once desperately tried to land the phone number of a WWE Diva he believed outshone Britney Spears after meeting her behind the scenes.

Kieron Dyer attended a 2004 SmackDown taping at the Metro Radio Arena with Newcastle United teammates Jermaine Jenas and Titus Bramble. Upon crossing paths with a legendary wrestling figure, the midfielder decided to try his luck.

Like most fans during that era, Dyer—who celebrated his 47th birthday last Monday—was completely enamored with Torrie Wilson. The blonde icon was a staple of Vince McMahon's promotion and a frequent cover star for major magazines, including Playboy.

The encounter was captured by BBC Two cameras, which followed the players backstage. Reports from the Wrestling Observer noted that Dyer appeared visibly flustered while in Torrie's presence.

Dyer openly declared she was more attractive than pop icon Britney Spears. However, when he eventually asked for her contact details, he was reportedly "brushed off," later attempting to dismiss the move as a mere prank.

The report noted that the footballer seemed entirely starstruck, with the author admitting his reaction was understandable given Torrie's massive fame at the time.

Dyer watched his crush in action that evening as she triumphed over Eva Marie on a star-studded lineup featuring legends like Eddie Guerrero, John Cena, and Rey Mysterio.

During that period, Torrie was wed to fellow competitor Billy Kidman (Peter Gruner). Following their 2008 divorce and her retirement from the ring, she eventually married Justin Tupper in 2019.

The fitness model's journey took her from small-town Idaho to global superstardom, first with WCW before becoming a household name under McMahon's leadership.

Torrie's mainstream appeal was solidified through high-profile shoots for FHM and Playboy. One of her most famous storylines involved a rivalry with Nidia, which featured segments at the Playboy Mansion with Hugh Hefner.

Later, she collaborated with Sable—the wife of Brock Lesnar—for a joint feature in the March 2004 edition of Playboy.

While she never secured a Women's Championship title, Torrie was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019. During her speech, she playfully acknowledged her legacy by thanking fans for letting her be "a part of your puberty."

A tribute to her career highlighted: "Her athletic ability and natural flair for entertainment made her a perfect fit for WWE during one of the industry's most iconic eras."
