Man United consider Jean-Philippe Mateta move amid Crystal Palace uncertainty

Man United are reportedly considering a move for Jean-Philippe Mateta amid the uncertainty surrounding his Crystal Palace future.

The 28-year-old scored the first Premier League goal of 2026 in Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw with Fulham at Selhurst Park on Thursday (January 1).

According to Sky Sports, Man United are seriously considering a move to sign Mateta in January should he become available.

It’s understood that United aren’t looking to go out of their way to sign a new striker this winter but would be open to any potential market opportunities.

Mateta’s current deal at Crystal Palace is set to expire in the summer of 2027, and talks over a new contract have long been at a standstill.
