During the holiday season, as people worldwide exchanged gifts, the giving habits of celebrities and the ultra-wealthy often operate on a vastly different plane. Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo once received an astonishing £250,000 Rolls-Royce from his fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez—a present that dwarfed the typical festive offerings.
The extravagant gesture was so excessive that it drew sharp criticism from Spanish politician Miguel Ángel Revilla, who labeled it "pornographic." Videos circulated on social media during Christmas 2022 showed the Portuguese star accepting the luxury vehicle, adorned with a large red ribbon.
For a footballer already earning £173 million annually in Saudi Arabia before signing an even more lucrative contract, selecting an appropriate gift is undoubtedly a challenge. Nonetheless, Ronaldo appeared thrilled with the surprise, smiling broadly in the footage.
However, Revilla expressed strong disapproval during an appearance on the Spanish program Más vale tarde (La Sexta). "I found that gift pornographic," he stated, pointing to widespread financial strain amid high inflation. "Given what people are going through right now, broadcasting such things on television is immoral. These kinds of displays resemble hardcore pornography."
Ronaldo owns an impressive car collection valued at around £17 million, which includes a £1 million McLaren Senna and a massive Mercedes G-Wagon Brabus.
Earlier this year, his earnings reached new heights when he signed the most lucrative contract in sports history with Al-Nassr. The deal will keep him at the club until age 42, with a daily income of approximately £488,000.
The total two-year package is worth a staggering £492 million, including a £24.5 million signing bonus—a figure that could rise to £38 million if he triggers the second-year option.
Additionally, SunSport reported that a Saudi Pro League source revealed Ronaldo will receive a 15% ownership stake in Al-Nassr, estimated at £33 million.
Performance bonuses could further increase his earnings: £4 million for winning the league's golden boot and £8 million if Al-Nassr secure the championship. If all incentives are met, Ronaldo could approach nearly half a billion pounds in earnings over the two-year period.
