Ake turns down West Ham move as he seeks to stay with Man City despite lack of minutes
Manchester City defender Nathan Ake has rejected a move to West Ham United ahead of the January transfer window.
Ake has started in just one Premier League game for the Blues since February, and has made just eight league appearances this term under head coach Pep Guardiola.
City were reportedly open to selling the defender for just 321M, but it seems like the Dutchman is keen to stay and fight for his place with the club, who are currently head to head with Arsenal in the title race.
The 30-year-old has won everything possible under Guardiola, including a historic treble which he played a huge part of as he cemented himself in defence.
January is West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo's first chance to bring in his own players and Ake is said to be high on his transfer list as he seeks to cure the club’s defensive blows which has seen them leak 38 goals in 19 league games.
Barcelona have also been linked with the defender, but reports claim that the 321M fee is seen as too much for the Spanish giants to cough up.
Barcelona are still searching for a replacement for Inigo Martinez, who opted to leave for the Saudi Pro League in the summer transfer window, and Ake could be the perfect addition, possibly on loan.
Ake's City contract expires in 2027, making this an ideal time for a permanent move as the club try to cash in and reinvest the funds.
