Hurzeler speaks on Howell's future after transfer speculation: Just noise, just rumour...
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has spoken on Harry Howell's future as reports link him to Bayer Leverkusen.
Howell made his Premier League debut against Liverpool towards the end of last season as he works his way into Hurzeler’s plans.0
The 17-year-old bagged a brace against Tottenham in the FA Youth Cup earlier this month, which increased reports from the likes of Florian Plettenburg this week, who reported that Bayer Leverkusen were very interested in snapping him up.0
However, when asked about the teenager in his latest press conference, Hurzeler brushed off such reports as mere rumours and speculation.0
"We had an open exchange with him, with his agent. So I think the rumour was just noise. He's back in our environment now.0
"We have some clear values and some clear principles we want to see from every player, and we know that Harry Howell has big potential, that Harry Howell can be a big, big player for us."0
"But first of all, it's about work. It's about hard work. It's about delivering it like every day, every training session. I have to go inside, and I have to think about sending him to a doping test because he was so good in training.0
"That's what I demand from the young players. That's what I see from them, what I want to see from them. Therefore, if he's doing that, he has a big chance to be a great player for us. That's why, just noise, just rumour, I'm really looking forward to working with him."0
Howell is a big talent and Hurzeler may have to think about handing him more chances in the first team if he is to dismay more rumours surrounding the wonderkid who may be keen on a Bundesliga move.0
