Former Manchester United Star's Past Relationship Under Spotlight Amid Reports of Infidelity

Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, who turned 33 this week, is back in the headlines following renewed attention on his past relationship with model and social media influencer Jena Frumes. The pair dated for around 15 months beginning in 2016, during a period when Lingard’s career was ascending under then-manager Louis van Gaal.

Their reportedly private romance ended in 2017, not long after media outlets alleged Lingard had been unfaithful. Frumes, now 32, confirmed the split at the time in a since-deleted social media post, writing, “At least I can say I tried plus I enjoyed the ride. Wish you the best Jesse Lingard.” In a follow-up post, she added, “I love Jesse to death but sometimes the timing is just off.”

Specific allegations published in 2018 claimed Lingard had been involved with another woman just days before celebrating his birthday with Frumes. It was reported he later gifted the woman a pair of signed boots personalized with his squad number, 14, as a memento.

Following her split from Lingard, Frumes began a relationship with American pop star Jason Derulo. The couple quickly grew close, welcomed a son together, but separated just months later in September 2021. In subsequent interviews and social media posts, Frumes suggested the breakup was due to being “disrespected” and “lied to.”

Reflecting on the accelerated nature of their pandemic-era relationship on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast, Derulo stated, “Everything happened really fast… We had conversations about having kids. I'm not the youngest guy. I was like, 'Yeah, I want to have a kid.' She felt the same way… one thing kind of led to another.”

Since leaving Manchester United, Lingard has had spells at several clubs and is currently a free agent after a short stint with FC Seoul in South Korea. Frumes, who has also been linked to other high-profile figures in the past, continues to maintain a strong presence as an influencer with millions of social media followers.

Representatives for Jesse Lingard have not publicly commented on the historical allegations.
