Diogo Costa extends contract with FC Porto
Diogo Costa has extended his contract with FC Porto until 2030, now with a release clause set at 60 million euros, announced the Liga Portugal leaders this Tuesday.
Francesco Farioli had already hinted at the news after the 3-0 win over Alverca, in a match where Diogo Costa once again played a key role, and the confirmation came right in the middle of the holiday season, with the Portuguese international goalkeeper signing a new deal with the dragons.
"I feel very happy. I think everyone knows my history with this club and what they can expect from me. I have every reason to sign this extension. My family and I are extremely happy," said the goalkeeper, in comments published on the blue and white club's official website.
For Porto, the downside is the reduction of the Portuguese international's release clause, which drops from 70 million euros to 60 million, even though the contract has been extended by three years compared to the previous deal.
Diogo Costa is now in his seventh season with FC Porto's first team, having made his debut in 2019 under S9rgio Concei73o, and has already played 219 matches wearing the dragon shirt.
"As a kid, I always dreamed of playing for this club. I wasn't sure if I would ever become a footballer at FC Porto, but that was always my biggest dream. It's a dream that makes me very happy and makes me feel fulfilled, especially being captain, which is something I never imagined. I'm very grateful for the story I've written so far and excited for what's to come," added the 26-year-old goalkeeper.

Diogo Costa's numbers
Diogo Costa joined FC Porto in the 2011/12 season and made his first-team debut in 2019/20, having also played for the B team and the youth squads, where he won the Youth League.
Since the 2021/22 season, he has firmly established himself as Porto's first-choice goalkeeper, and has also become the undisputed starter for Portugal's senior national team, earning 42 caps and winning the Nations League last June, as well as featuring at the 2022 World Cup and Euro 2024.
With FC Porto, he has won two national championships (2019/20 and 2021/22), three Portuguese Cups (2021/22, 2022/23, and 2023/24), and two C2ndido de Oliveira Super Cups (2022/23 and 2024/25), making him the longest-serving player in the current blue and white squad.
