Monaco coach Pocognoli cannot rule out losing Akliouche as Man City circle

AS Monaco coach S9bastien Pocognoli concedes they face a battle to keep hold of Maghnes Akliouche ahead of the January market.

Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham are all interested in the wide player.

According to L'9quipe, interest from Manchester City remains, despite the signing of Rayan Cherki during the summer.

"I count on everyone during the second half of the season," said Pocognoli.

"But Maghnes is free to make his decision. Decisions concerning his future are his own."

The coach emphasised at the same time that Akliouche has an important role in the team, but also provides an argument about why a move in January is not necessarily the right step right now.

"What I can say is that there are still many things he can develop before he takes this step," he continued.

He clarifies that he has not asked the club management to rule out a sale.

"Did I ask the management to close the door? No. I am happy with my squad and will work with what I have when the window closes. I always adapt. I have done that since I arrived."

Already during the summer, Monaco was reported to value Akliouche at €70m.
