Footballer's Girlfriend Killed in Horrific Porsche Crash During Alleged Road Race

A 20-year-old volleyball star was traveling on a highway with her mother when a Porsche crashed into their car. She later died in the hospital with her heartbroken footballer boyfriend by her side.

A footballer has been left devastated after his sports star girlfriend was killed when her car was hit by an alleged illegal street racer in a Porsche 911.

Francesco Tozaj stayed at the side of his partner, Matilde Baldi, in the hospital as she fought for her life for five days. The semi-professional striker, who plays for San Domenico Savio Asti near Turin, shared that his 20-year-old partner "saved ten lives by donating her organs" after she passed away.

Matilde, a professional volleyball player, was traveling with her mother in her Fiat 500 near her hometown of Asti in Italy when their vehicle was suddenly struck by a Porsche 911 GT3 with German license plates, according to reports. CCTV footage appears to show the driver racing with another Porsche on the A33 motorway at the time of the collision.

Matilde, who worked as a barista at the Nuovo Borgo Shopping Centre in Asti, sustained a serious head injury in the crash, which occurred around 8:30 PM on December 11.

After fighting for her life for five days, she died on Tuesday, December 16, as reported by NeedToKnow. Her mother also suffered serious injuries but is now recovering in the hospital.

Tozaj, 24, expressed his heartbreak over his girlfriend’s sudden death, saying, "I don’t even want to know who killed her, because nothing will bring her back to me."

The footballer described Matilde, who played volleyball for the PlayAsti team, as a “pure person.” He added, "It’s absurd that my Matilde died like this, in a road race—it makes me even more furious.

"She was a pure person, and she proved it even in death by saving ten lives through organ donation. I was the first to arrive at the hospital, and I stayed by her side the entire time.

"I spoke to her; I hope she heard me before she died. The doctors told me that at least she didn’t suffer."

Tozaj continued, "I was incredibly lucky to have known her and to have spent nearly four years together. She was a beautiful girl, but her inner beauty far surpassed her outer beauty.

"She was pure, she cared for me deeply, and over the years, we built the foundation for a life together.

"We were working toward building that life, and now she’s gone because of a reckless race on the highway."

The driver of the Porsche that struck Matilde’s car has been arrested, while police continue to search for the other suspected racer involved.

Online, fans paid tribute to Matilde and expressed their outrage over her tragic death. One wrote, "An inhumane tragedy. We must make our roads safer." Another said, "Road homicide should be punishable by life in prison."

A third added, "Damn it, another innocent life taken because of these idiots." A fourth commented, "This is shameful, an absolute disgrace."
