Guehi features on Man City's defensive shortlist
According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace and England star Marc Guehi is on Manchester City's shortlist of defensive targets for the next summer transfer window. Guehi's contract expires at the end of the 2025-26 season, meaning the centre-back is set to leave Selhurst Park as a free agent. Besides City, Liverpool also hold a concrete interest in the defender.
Man Utd reach Mainoo decision ahead of January
Manchester United have outlined their stance regarding the potential departure of Kobbie Mainoo in January.
The Guardian reports that United have no plans to sell Mainoo during the January transfer window, despite the midfielder not starting a Premier League match this season. The club's hierarchy retains confidence in the 20-year-old's long-term prospects and is reluctant to part with an academy graduate they believe still possesses significant potential, even if the current manager does not share that view. While a temporary loan has not been ruled out, United are unwilling to make a permanent decision on Mainoo's future midway through the campaign.
Schlotterbeck advised against Bayern switch
Germany legend Lothar Matthäus has advised Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck to reject a potential move to Bayern Munich if Dayot Upamecano remains at the club.
Speaking to Sport BILD, Matthäus said: "He is one of the best central defenders we have in Germany. I think it depends a lot on Upamecano. If Upamecano stays, then it will be very difficult for Nico Schlotterbeck to become a regular player at Bayern. But we are not there yet. I don't know what Nico is planning."
Tomiyasu poised for return after agreeing Ajax move
According to Fabrizio Romano, injury-plagued former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has verbally agreed to join Dutch giants Ajax on a short-term deal valid until 2026. The ex-Gunner will undergo a medical with the Eredivisie side on Tuesday and, if all goes well, is expected to sign the contract in the coming days.
Milan weigh January move for West Ham striker
AC Milan's search for a traditional 'number nine' has led them to West Ham, with Sky Sport reporting the Rossoneri are seriously considering a loan move for Niclas Füllkrug when the transfer window reopens. The Serie A giants, currently undergoing a tactical transition under Stefano Pioli, have identified the German striker as a potential solution to their offensive inconsistencies, despite his difficult spell in the Premier League. Reports in Italy suggest Milan sporting director Geoffrey Moncada is the driving force behind the potential deal.
Bayern join race for Polish wonderkid
The pursuit of one of Europe's most exciting teenage talents has intensified, with Bayern Munich formally entering the battle for Jagiellonia Białystok sensation Oskar Pietuszewski. The Bavarian giants have dispatched scouts to monitor the winger and are now prepared to rival Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester City for a signature expected to break Polish transfer records.
Rodgers in line for dugout return at surprising club
Former Celtic and Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly being lined up for a return to coaching in surprising surroundings. The Northern Irishman left his role at Celtic in October and has been awaiting attractive offers since. It is now claimed he is close to joining the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in Saudi Arabia.
The Athletic, among others, reports that Rodgers is wanted in the Middle East. It is suggested he will travel to Saudi Arabia as "work continues to finalise a deal." If terms are agreed, he will take over at Al-Qadisiyah.
Maignan to stay? Milan chief promises talks
AC Milan sporting director Giorgio Furlani has insisted the club has no intention of parting ways with Mike Maignan, promising contract talks with the goalkeeper will occur soon. The French shot-stopper has attracted significant interest from Chelsea and Juventus as his current deal winds down, but Furlani maintains the 'extraordinary' keeper is happy at San Siro.
"Maignan renewal? We have never talked about numbers," Furlani told the press. "Talking about Mike is easy; he is an extraordinary guy and a great leader. He likes being at Milan, and Milan likes him being here, but now let's focus on the game, and then we will discuss it."
Amorim 'really pleased' if Mainoo seeks transfer talks
Rúben Amorim claims he would be "really pleased" if out-of-favour midfielder Kobbie Mainoo asked him about a January loan move away from Manchester United. Questions surround the 20-year-old's future at Old Trafford amid his struggle for regular playing time. A move might be necessary for him to compete for a place in England's plans for the 2026 World Cup.
"If Kobbie comes to me and talks to me, I will talk to him. I'm not going to say what I'll say to Kobbie, but I will be really pleased if he comes to talk to me about that. I just want my players happy, and I understand every individual has their goals.
"The frustration [of any player] doesn't help anybody. But again, the focus is [on the next game], and we will see if that happens. I had some conversations with him, especially last year, and with other players, but about that subject, no, I didn't speak with him. I am completely open [to talk]."
Sugar urges Spurs to appoint Klopp as Frank replacement
Former Tottenham chairman Lord Alan Sugar has urged the club to appoint Jürgen Klopp as their new manager amid widespread calls for the sacking of Ange Postecoglou following Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. Lord Alan Sugar, a part-owner of Spurs from 1991 to 2001, has urged the club to hire the legendary former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp as a replacement in the new year. On X, the former Spurs chief wrote: "With the massive fortune of the Lewis family, it would be a win-win situation if they hired Jürgen Klopp in January. Loads of money for players and a great manager. Who agrees #coys."
